Pregnancy Reflexology

Pregnancy can be an awe-inspiring time for many women. However for some, it is also a challenge, with many changes to their bodies, new hormones and anxiety regarding labour and significant life change.

Reflexology is a gentle therapy, wonderful to use during pregnancy, throughout labour and in the months after birth.

It may enhance feelings of well-being and complements standard antenatal and postnatal care.

I have a diploma in maternity reflexology and have been working regularly with women in all stages of pregnancy for over 15 years.

I also work to support women and men with fertility issues.

Is Reflexology safe for my baby and me?

Reflexology is generally considered safe in low risk pregnancy.

There are some contra-indications to treating during pregnancy, please discuss any concerns you might have prior to booking your treatment.

Can Reflexology be used to bring on labour?

There is anecdotal evidence to suggest that reflexology can help to bring on labour, providing both mother and baby are ready.

It is always recommended that clients who wish to use reflexology for this purpose begin their reflexology sessions at least 6 weeks prior to their estimated due date (around 34 weeks), although this is not essential.

After an estimated due date, the focus of the treatment is on stimulation and a firmer pressure is used on relevant points on the feet. Acupressure points around the feet and ankles are incorporated in to the treatment.
